In a significant administrative shake-up, the Punjab government transferred 38 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and one Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officer on Thursday. Vikas Pratap, an IAS officer from the 1994 batch, has been reassigned as Additional Chief Secretary, Excise.

Rajat Oberoi, a PCS officer who previously served as Additional Chief Administrator at the Amritsar Development Authority, has also been transferred. The order noted that the postings are effective immediately.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann assured job security for the youth and criticized the previous government during an appointment letter distribution ceremony in Chandigarh. A total of 293 individuals were given appointments across various departments on September 7.

Addressing the new appointees, the Chief Minister extended his congratulations and assured them of future opportunities. 'Congratulations to you and your family. Nothing is impossible in this world. The youth had lost hope in the past, but now their hopes have been fulfilled. Our government is preparing even bigger positions for you,' said Mann.

The Chief Minister urged the new appointees to steer clear of corruption, emphasizing the need for integrity in their roles. 'The system was flawed for 75 years, but we will fix it, even if it takes time. Many of you come from humble backgrounds, so I appeal to you: do not take bribes in your new positions,' he stated.

According to the government, 263 of the 293 appointment letters were for positions in the health department, nine in technical education, and 21 in the water supply department. (ANI)
