The Centre has called on coal block allottees to expedite the production process in mines that were recently auctioned. The coal ministry reviewed the status of these coal mines on Wednesday.

In a detailed review meeting chaired by Coal Additional Secretary Rupinder Brar, it was noted that the 71 coal blocks are in various stages of regulatory clearance. These mines are spread across nine states: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and West Bengal.
