Woodside Energy has temporarily halted oil and gas output at its Shenzi offshore production platform in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, the company announced on Wednesday.
The shutdown was a result of power loss at an onshore refinery, according to a spokesperson from Woodside. This precautionary measure was taken as part of the company's response to the imminent arrival of Hurricane Francine.
Earlier, the company had partially evacuated its staff from the platform to ensure their safety ahead of the storm's impact.
