Manipur Inspector General of Police, Intelligence, K Kabib, confirmed on Wednesday that law enforcement is managing the situation following fresh violence. He highlighted that over ten police officers suffered injuries during protests where tear gas was utilized to disperse the crowd.

Speaking to reporters in Imphal, IGP Kabib detailed the events over the past 24 hours. Protests were predominantly peaceful in Imphal East, Bishnupur, Kakching, and Imphal West. However, certain areas, particularly in Imphal West under the Singamari and City Police Stations, saw violent outbreaks. Violent methods were reported in Kakwa Bazar and Uripok areas, including the use of firearms and petrol bombs, leading to injuries among law enforcement.

IGP Kabib indicated that agitators were among those injured and detained, identifying student participants and non-locals as instigators. He emphasized that during Tuesday's Kakwa rally, violent participants were not local, suggesting external instigation. CRPF DIG Manish Kumar Sachar assured that the situation remains under control and that forces are responding strongly to fringe area incidents. The state government has suspended Internet services until September 15.
