Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez called on the European Union to rethink proposed import tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, highlighting the risk of a trade war during his visit to China. He emphasized the importance of finding a compromise to protect Spanish industry.

Speaking at an industrial park in Kunshan, Sanchez stated, "We need to reconsider our position, including all member states and the European Commission. We don't need another war, especially a trade war. We should build bridges between the EU and China."

The European Commission has not yet commented on Sanchez's remarks. Chinese President Xi Jinping urged Sanchez to play a constructive role in improving EU-China ties. With EU member states set to vote on the tariffs, Spain is keen to avoid retaliation that could hurt its pork exports.
