West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to convene a crucial meeting on Thursday to review the state of health facilities and the improvement of safety, security, and patient services across the State. Scheduled for 1 PM, the meeting will take place at the Nabbana Sabhaghar in the state secretariat.

Invitations have been extended to the principals, directors, and Medical Superintendents cum Vice-Principals (MSVPs) of all medical colleges and hospitals in the state. Additionally, all Commissioners of Police, District Magistrates, and Chief Medical Officers of Health (CMOH) from various districts have been requested to attend the session.

A letter circulated ahead of the meeting clarifies, "This is to inform you that Chief Minister, West Bengal, shall hold a meeting on the subject mentioned above from Nabanna Sabhaghar on 12 September, 2024, at 1.00. You are requested to attend the meeting physically or in virtual mode along with the officers as per the enclosed list. This is for your kind information and taking necessary action." The session comes in the aftermath of the tragic rape and murder of a PG trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College on August 9.

Earlier, on September 10, the grieving father of the deceased trainee doctor from Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College expressed dissatisfaction with CM Mamata Banerjee's actions in the case. The family has called for a CBI investigation, citing the Chief Minister's inadequate response.

Speaking to ANI, the victim's father stated, "We are not satisfied with the role of the CM (Mamata Banerjee) in the case; that's why we went to the CBI. She hasn't done any work. One of the policemen came to our house, they said we have arrested Sanjay Roy and he will be produced in fast track court and will get a death sentence. But the incident that happened with my daughter was not the work of just one person. We have been saying this since starting that persons from the department involved in this."
