In an anticipatory move ahead of the SEMICON India 2024 Summit, Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron, extolled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India's semiconductor sector. Mehrotra highlighted the government's policies aimed at incentivizing semiconductor manufacturing, calling them 'very exciting.' He noted that India's ambitions in this sector align perfectly with the rising opportunities in AI.

Prime Minister Modi is set to inaugurate the SEMICON India 2024 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on September 11. In a recent roundtable with semiconductor executives, the Prime Minister underscored that their innovations would not only steer business but also shape India's future. He emphasized the critical role of semiconductors as foundational to the Digital Age, predicting the industry will soon be indispensable for everyday needs.

According to an official statement, PM Modi highlighted several developmental pillars such as digital infrastructure, inclusive growth, and the importance of reducing compliance burdens to attract investment. The roundtable was attended by top executives from leading companies like Micron, NXP, and Infineon, as well as academics from prestigious institutions including Stanford University. SEMICON India 2024 will run from September 11-13 with the theme 'Shaping the Semiconductor Future,' bringing together global semiconductor leaders and showcasing India's plans to become an industry hub.
