Ward Boy Arrested for Alleged Molestation in Bhiwandi Hospital

A 24-year-old ward boy, Mehboob Aasmohammad Alam, was arrested for allegedly molesting a female patient at a private hospital in Bhiwandi, Thane district. The incident occurred in the early hours of September 9. The police have registered an FIR and are investigating the matter.

A 24-year-old ward boy allegedly molested a female patient undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhiwandi town of Thane district, police revealed on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Mehboob Aasmohammad Alam, was apprehended on Monday, mere hours after the incident, according to senior inspector Mahado Kumbhar of the Bhiwandi town police station.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, had been admitted to the ICU for a stomach infection. Around 4 am on September 9, Alam reportedly entered her ward and inappropriately touched her. He also allegedly proposed to her for marriage.

Following the victim's complaint, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 74, which pertains to assault or use of criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty. An investigation is currently ongoing, confirmed Kumbhar.
