Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday convened a Cabinet Committee meeting at Mantralaya to assess the preparations for Simhastha 2028, a Hindu religious festival held every 12 years in Ujjain city.

CM Yadav emphasized that Simhastha involves both the Ujjain and Indore divisions, attracting vast numbers of devotees to Omkareshwar and Maheshwar as well. The Chief Minister highlighted the need for infrastructure development, including closer proximity parking for elderly pilgrims and potential use of educational institution grounds for additional parking capacity. He stressed that these adjustments should begin immediately.

Yadav also mandated the Public Works Department to expedite the construction of a four-lane road from KD Gate to Veer Durgadas Chhatri to Gonsa Marg in Ujjain. This route aims to provide direct access to Gopal Mandir and surrounding urban areas. Additionally, a helipad at Sadaval is in progress to enhance spiritual tourism and improve accessibility under the Tirtha Darshan Yojana.

Emphasizing the importance of future-proofing public infrastructure, Yadav called for developing more robust rail connections, alongside the Ujjain Indore Metro. He instructed departments to complete previously approved projects promptly, including the renovation and beautification of various ghats. Coordination among different departments was underscored as crucial for the successful and timely completion of all Simhastha 2028 initiatives.
