Farmers and Entrepreneurs Praise PM Modi's Millet Promotion Initiative

Farmers and entrepreneurs from Assam and the North Eastern region have expressed their gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his efforts to promote millet cultivation and consumption. According to Tago Tanu, an entrepreneur from Arunachal Pradesh, government initiatives have significantly benefited millet promotion, with support extended through entities like NERAMAC.
NERAMAC has been instrumental in providing support and promotion across various states, including Tripura, Meghalaya, and Guwahati, with plans to expand to Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. Farmers, currently around 100 strong, are motivated by the governmental backing and public health benefits associated with millets, explained Tanu. Fellow entrepreneur Yagum emphasized the importance of farmers leveraging governmental facilities for millet farming.
Mayashri Baruah from Guwahati commended the PM's move, noting increased public acceptance and value realization. Baruah, who has received training and opportunities to represent millet products at international expos, highlighted substantial government support and motivation. A recent event by NERAMAC in Guwahati aimed to raise awareness about millets, termed 'India's Golden Grain,' and promote increased production. Notable attendees praised the move for its potential to enhance food security and agri-diversity.
