An unfortunate incident in Nawabganj, Uttar Pradesh, has resulted in the tragic death of four young girls aged between 10 and 14 years. The victims, identified as Mehak Khatoon (14), Samia (10), Saiba (10), and Sarikul Khatoon (13), were attempting to pull lotus plants from a pond when they slipped into deeper water and drowned.
The heartbreaking event occurred in Sattijor village, under the jurisdiction of the Nawabganj police station, according to local authorities. Sub Divisional Magistrate Nanpara Ashwini Kumar Pandey confirmed that the bodies have been sent for postmortem examinations to investigate the exact cause of death.
Expressing his condolences, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh for each affected family, aiming to provide some relief in their time of profound grief.
