The Congress has opened the call for proposals for the 32nd Indira Gandhi Award for National Integration for the years 2022 and 2023. The award, chaired by Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, aims to honor individuals or institutions that have notably contributed to national integration.

Established in 1985 during the Indian National Congress's centenary celebrations, the award encourages unity among India's diverse communities. It highlights achievements in fostering understanding among different religious, ethnic, and cultural groups.

The award, presented on October 31, Indira Gandhi's Martyrdom Day, includes a citation and a cash prize of Rs 10 lakh. Past recipients include luminaries like Swami Ranganathananda, Aruna Asaf Ali, and APJ Abdul Kalam. Recommendations are due by September 30.
