The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday announced RS Pathania as their candidate for the Udhampur East constituency in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls. Releasing its sixth list of candidates, the BJP spotlighted Pathania and Pawan Khajuria as key contenders for the ticket.

Upon receiving the nomination, Pathania expressed his gratitude towards party top brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President J.P. Nadda, and Home Minister Amit Shah, among other senior leaders in Jammu and Kashmir. He thanked them for their trust and the opportunity to contest the Udhampur East seat. Pathania also stressed the developmental achievements in the area and the significant decrease in terrorist activities.

Confident about his election prospects, Pathania vowed to honor the trust placed in him by the BJP and committed to working tirelessly for the party's victory in Udhampur East. He predicted not only a win in his constituency but also a sweeping victory for the BJP across Jammu and significant gains in Kashmir. Pathania, a former MLA from Ramnagar constituency and current BJP spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, is aiming high in these elections.

Moreover, the BJP's sixth list, released on Sunday, includes ten candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides Pathania, the list features Naseer Ahmad Lone for Bandipora, Mohd Irnees Karnahi for Karnah, Ghulam Mohammad Mir for Handwara, Abdul Rashid Khan for Sonawari, and Faqir Mohammad Khan for Gurez (ST). Polls are scheduled to be held in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with vote counting on October 8.
