North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has underscored the importance of bolstering the nation's naval capabilities, according to state media KCNA.

During a visit to a naval base construction site, Kim stated that new facilities are crucial to accommodate the anticipated large surface warships and submarines. He also revealed plans for deploying anti-aircraft and coastal-defense systems to protect the new port.

Kim highlighted the strategic advantages of the site, which offers a key vantage point given the country's geographical boundaries. In a related visit to a shipyard, Kim urged greater investment in shipbuilding projects to ensure immediate and long-term developmental goals are met.
