Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocated for harmony and forgiveness on Saturday, urging citizens to 'embrace empathy and solidarity as our source of motivation' during a speech marking the Jain festival of Samvatsari.

'Samvatsari highlights the strength of harmony and forgiving others. It calls for embracing empathy and solidarity as our source of motivation. In this spirit, let us renew and deepen bonds of togetherness. Let kindness and unity shape our journey forward. Michhami Dukkadam!,' Modi stated in a post on X. The festival, observed with folded hands and the greeting 'Michhami Dukkadam,' involves Jains fasting for the entire day.

Earlier, Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan participated in Paryushan Mahaparva 2024 celebrations with the Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur in Mumbai, alongside global spiritual master Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshji, Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, and other dignitaries.

The sacred day of Samvatsari is dedicated to practicing Jain teachings of 'Universal Compassion,' promoting inner cleansing through the act of seeking forgiveness.
