At least five people are confirmed dead following the collapse of a building in Lucknow's Transport Nagar on Saturday evening. Rescue teams have managed to save 28 individuals, though several remain trapped in the debris, according to senior officials.

Uttar Pradesh Home Secretary Sanjeev Gupta reported that drones are being used in the evacuation process to speed up rescue efforts. 'There is information of 5 deaths till now,' Gupta told ANI. '28 people have been rescued, and they have been sent to hospitals for treatment. Several people are feared to be trapped,' added District Magistrate (DM) Suryapal Gangwar.

DM Gangwar visited the hospital where the injured are being treated, ensuring they receive proper care. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident, directing officials to expedite relief activities and transport the injured promptly.

ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash stated that CM Yogi is continually reviewing the situation and coordinating with various departments for effective rescue operations. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and fire services are actively involved in the mission.

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his sorrow over the incident, noting on X that the local administration is doing all it can to help the victims. The rescue operation is ongoing, with the Fire Department, SDRF, and NDRF teams on the scene.
