Ukrainian Drones Strike Munitions Depot in Voronezh
Ukrainian drones targeted a munitions depot in Russia's Voronezh region, causing explosions and a fire, according to Ukrainian security. Governor Alexander Gusev confirmed detonations without casualties but declared a state of emergency and evacuated hundreds. The operation was likely conducted by Ukraine's SBU, utilizing long-range drones.
In a significant development overnight, Ukrainian drones have struck a munitions depot located in the Russian region of Voronezh, according to a Ukrainian security source. The depot, believed to be used for transferring munitions and equipment to Ukraine, was set ablaze.
Alexander Gusev, the governor of Voronezh, announced via Telegram that 'explosive objects' had detonated following a fire in the Ostorogozhsky district. While there were no casualties, a local state of emergency was declared, leading to the evacuation of several hundred people and the closure of a major road.
The source, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, indicated that the operation was conducted by Ukraine's internal security service, the SBU. Currently, there are still four pockets of intense fire and ongoing detonations at the site located in the village of Soldatskoe, roughly 80 miles from the nearest Ukraine-controlled territory.
Restricted from using Western-supplied missiles on Russian soil, Ukraine has developed a stockpile of domestically produced long-range drones, some capable of hitting targets over 1,000 km away.
