Ukrainian Drones Strike Munitions Depot in Voronezh
Ukrainian drones targeted a munitions depot in Voronezh, Russia, believed to be used for transferring equipment to Ukraine. The local Russian governor reported no casualties but a state of emergency and evacuations were declared. The attacks were carried out by Ukraine's internal security service, the SBU.
Ukrainian drones struck a munitions depot in the Voronezh region of Russia, according to a Ukrainian security source on Saturday. The depot was allegedly being used for transferring munitions and equipment to Ukraine.
Alexander Gusev, the governor of the region, confirmed in a Telegram statement that "explosive objects" detonated after a fire broke out in the area's Ostorogozhsky district. He reported no casualties but said a state of emergency had been declared, evacuating several hundred people and closing a major road.
The operation was carried out by the SBU, Ukraine's internal security service, and resulted in four pockets of intense fire and ongoing detonation of munitions. The depot is located in Soldatskoe village, almost 80 miles from the nearest Ukraine-controlled territory.
Ukraine has been restricted by some Western allies from using their missiles on Russian territory, prompting it to build a stock of domestically produced long-range drones capable of hitting targets over 1,000 km away.
