A National Security Guard (NSG) commando came to the rescue of a woman drowning in Kathauta Lake, Lucknow, as police reported. The dramatic incident unfolded during a Friday evening walk with his senior.

Witnesses say the commando acted swiftly when the woman was seen struggling in the water. Senior NSG officials named Team Commander Ravi Kumar Rai and Commando Ravi Kumar as the heroes, detailing that the pair were on VVIP protection duty, strolling around Kathauta Lake in Gomti Nagar at approximately 6:30 pm when they noticed a crowd recording the distressing scene.

Under immediate instructions from Team Commander Ravi Kumar Rai, Commando Ravi Kumar plunged into the lake, wasting no time to rescue the woman. As the rescue operation continued, the team commander mobilized local bystanders to assist in pulling her out of the water. Post-rescue, the commando administered first aid.

Team Commander Ravi promptly notified senior police officers about the incident, leading to the arrival of a police team and an ambulance. The woman was transported to the Community Health Centre (CHC) for further treatment and is currently in stable condition.

The Task Force Commander in Lucknow lauded the valor of both Team Commander Ravi Kumar Rai and Commando Ravi Kumar, recommending a cash reward for the latter in appreciation of his life-saving actions. (ANI)
