Union Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment, Ramdas Athawale, laid the foundation stone for Naga Mandi at Seithekema-A in Chumoukedima district on Friday. The initiative aims to enhance agricultural trade and bolster Nagaland's agrarian economy.

Athawale highlighted that the Naga Mandi is expected to generate significant economic benefits, increase farmers' income, create job opportunities, and improve market efficiency. 'The Centre supports all farmers as agriculture is fundamental to life,' he stated.

Key features of the Naga Mandi include 110 retail outlets for traders, 10 warehouses with a combined capacity of 4,000 MT, and two dedicated auction yards. Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and other dignitaries were also present at the event.

Rural Agro Farms (RAF) LLP has been granted the government permit to establish and manage this comprehensive agricultural mandi under the Build-Operate-Maintain Public-Private Partnership (BOM-PPP) model.
