Heavy rain struck Hyderabad on Friday, triggering severe waterlogging in multiple areas, including the Nampally road which faced significant traffic congestion. Visuals captured from the scene depict the chaos brought by the relentless downpour.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the state from September 6 to September 9. According to the IMD, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected on Saturday, posing further challenges.

Particularly on September 8, the regions of Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar, and Mulugu are likely to bear the brunt of the adverse weather, with rainfall speeds predicted to reach 30 to 40 km per hour. An isolated incidence of extremely heavy rain is forecasted for September 9.

In a concerning development, the water level of Munneru River surged dramatically on September 2, inundating parts of Khammam's Prakash Nagar. Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy, Congress MP from Khammam, highlighted the extensive damage inflicted by the floods but assured that residents have been rescued and provided with food relief.

Khammam District Collector Muzammil Khan described the flooding as 'unprecedented,' noting that such conditions have not been witnessed in the past 30 years. 'We are experiencing severe floods in our district due to the 200mm rains,' Khan remarked. 'I appreciate the diligent efforts of officials over the last two days, as many lives were saved.'

Khan also committed to ensuring the availability of necessities and establishing rehabilitation centers, with special attention to health camps, food grain supplies, and care for the elderly and disabled. 'We have faced unprecedented floods and many related problems, but the government will ensure all necessary aid is provided,' added Khan.
