Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sanctioned Rs 9.08 crore to address the significant damages caused by heavy rainfall in the Kedarnath area of Rudraprayag district. The funds, sourced from the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund, aim to support local businesses severely affected by the weather conditions.
The relief fund was approved for damages to the pedestrian and motor road between Linchauli and Sonprayag on July 31. Secretary Shailesh Bagoli issued the government order following Dhami's directive. The initiative follows a meeting with local representatives and organizations chaired by the Chief Development Officer, which estimated the necessary relief fund.
Compensation will be strictly for those impacted by the July 31 rains. Prior to disbursing funds, verification processes will ensure legitimacy, with payments made predominantly through e-banking. Records of beneficiaries will be meticulously maintained at the district level. Previously, on August 4, CM Dhami highlighted the evacuation of roughly 17,000 people from afflicted areas.
