Congress MLA Abdur Rashid Mandal on Thursday voiced his confidence regarding the party's prospects in the imminent assembly bypolls in Assam. According to Mandal, the party is fully prepared and unified, aiming to clinch all five contested seats. 'I am hopeful that all 5 seats will be won by our candidates. Our party is fully prepared and united. People are supporting us, so I am confident that we will win all five seats,' Mandal told ANI.

In anticipation of the by-elections, the Assam state election commission has released draft electoral rolls for the five constituencies, namely Dholai, Sidli, Bongaigaon, Behali, and Samaguri. These bye elections were necessitated as their respective MLAs were elected to Parliament during the recent 18th Lok Sabha elections. This development was announced publicly on Tuesday, providing specifics on the electoral layout for each constituency.

For Bongaigaon, the draft rolls indicate a total of 246 polling stations, serving 1,82,354 registered voters. Samaguri will host 197 polling stations for its 1,80,448 voters, while Dholai will see by-elections conducted across 208 polling stations for 1,96,772 voters. Behali's draft rolls document 1,33,300 voters and 154 stations, and Sidli, with its 2,12,555 voters, will establish 232 polling stations.

Earlier this year, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) contested in 11 Lok Sabha constituencies, securing nine seats, while its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) won one of the two seats it contested. Additionally, the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) won its sole contested seat. Out of Assam's 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, the Congress-led INDIA bloc managed to secure three seats.

The Assam Legislative Assembly consists of 126 constituencies in total. The recent Lok Sabha election results, as declared by the Election Commission of India (ECI), showed the BJP and its allies leading in 93 assembly constituencies. Congress led in 31, with the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) leading in two constituencies.
