Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings to the people on the first International Solar Festival. He emphasized that the day brings the global community together to celebrate the sun's impact and encourages efforts to build a better planet. Modi highlighted India's significant progress in green energy, noting a 32-fold increase in solar energy capacity over the past decade.

"This speed and scale will help India achieve 500 Giga Watt non-fossil capacity by 2030," PM Modi stated. In a social media message on X, the Prime Minister welcomed participants and congratulated the International Solar Alliance for the event. Modi remarked on the historical reverence for the sun in various cultures and the unifying power of the festival.

Remarking on the International Solar Alliance, Modi mentioned that 19 more countries are ratifying the framework agreement for full membership. India, having achieved the Paris commitments on renewable energy, continues to lead in green energy initiatives. He reiterated the monumental growth in India's solar sector, attributing it to targeted schemes and incentives that have made solar energy affordable and accessible.

PM Modi underscored the importance of the International Solar Alliance in sharing best practices for solar adoption. He announced a new policy intervention, the PM Suryagarh Muft Bijli Yojana, with an investment of Rs 750 billion aimed at assisting 10 million households in installing solar panels. Modi concluded by reinforcing India's commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
