Major Drug Bust in Mizoram: Police Seize Heroin and Meth Worth Rs 1.51 Crore

Police seized heroin and methamphetamine worth Rs 1.51 crore in Mizoram's Champhai district. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the case during a random vehicle check near New Hruaikawn Village.

Police in Mizoram's Champhai district have seized 2.55 kg of heroin and 5.74 kg of methamphetamine, valued at Rs 1.51 crore, from the Zokhawthar area. Two individuals were arrested in connection with the case.

Lalbiakthanga Khiangte, IGP (Law & Order) of Mizoram Police, reported that on the night of September 2, Zokhawthar Police Station personnel conducting random checks at the outskirts of New Hruaikawn Village stopped a suspicious vehicle with the registration number MZ-01AA-3824. Upon a thorough search, officers found and seized 2.557 kg (220 soap cases) of heroin estimated at Rs 7,671,000 and 5.742 kg (50,500 tablets) of methamphetamine estimated at Rs 7,464,600.

The arrested individuals were identified as David Rosangliana, 30, and Lawmsangzuala, 27. The case, registered under Zokhawthar Police Station Case No. 80/24, dated 03.09.2024, under sections 21(c)/22(c)/25/29 of the ND&PS Act, remains under investigation for further legal action.
