Odisha Extends Rs 5 Crore Aid to Tripura Flood Victims: CM Saha

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has committed Rs 5 crore to support Tripura's flood relief efforts, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced. In a phone call Wednesday evening, CM Majhi conveyed his condolences for the losses incurred due to the recent calamities and offered substantial financial aid for reconstruction.

Expressing gratitude, CM Saha acknowledged the significant support from Odisha. Besides, Tripura's Chief Minister's Relief Fund will see an additional disbursement of Rs 10 crore, supplementing the previously sanctioned Rs 2 crore, as part of the flood recovery initiative.

Meanwhile, contributions have poured in from various sectors including banks, social organizations, and other groups. Notably, State Bank of India donated Rs 25 lakh, Tinku Roy, Minister Rs 50,000, Biswa Bandhu Sen, Speaker Rs 63,000, and National Law University staff Rs 70,000, among others.

Since the continuous rainfall and unprecedented flooding began on August 19, 31 lives have been lost, and over 72,000 people have been displaced, according to the State Relief, Rehabilitation, and Disaster Management Department. District administrations have set up 492 relief camps, providing much-needed shelter and distributing clothing to the affected individuals.
