Trinamool Congress leader and Former Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh on Wednesday scrutinized the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) over their approach in the RG Kar medical hospital rape and murder case. Ghosh demanded the CBI clarify whether vendetta played a role in the incident.

"On September 5, the CBI must answer questions regarding the RG Kar medical college incident. They need to disclose if multiple individuals were involved and confirm whether this is a case of rape and murder or if there's a vengeful motive. If there's evidence of disturbance, the CBI must justify their findings and outline actions taken against those responsible," Ghosh stated.

The TMC leader's demands come a day before the Supreme Court is set to hear the case concerning the alleged rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at the RG Kar medical hospital. On Monday, the CBI examined the crime scene at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, inspecting the emergency building, boys' hostel, and the principal's office.

The investigation also included a second round of polygraph tests on RGKMCH's former principal Sandip Ghosh, conducted by the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL). Additionally, a polygraph test was carried out on the accused, Sanjay Roy.

Continuing protests in West Bengal feature junior doctors demanding the resignation of police commissioner Vineet Goyal. Amid widespread unrest and social media backlash, the West Bengal Assembly passed the 'Aparajita Woman and Child Bill (West Bengal Criminal Laws and Amendment) 2024,' imposing stricter penalties, including the death sentence for sexual assault and rape cases.
