Switzerland-based Syngenta Group CEO Jeff Rowe has raised alarms over the lengthy bureaucratic delays in regulatory approvals of innovative agrarian products in India. He has called on the Indian government to speed up these processes to benefit farmers.
In an exclusive interview with PTI, Rowe highlighted the urgent need for quicker availability of innovative agricultural solutions to mitigate the risks posed by climate change. On his first visit to India in his current role, Rowe outlined Syngenta's strategies, emphasizing innovation to address climate change and food security.
Rowe praised the Indian government's consumer digitalization efforts but urged a similar push for modernizing regulatory approvals. Syngenta is heavily investing in digital technology and gene-editing tools to aid farmers. The company plans to launch 40 new crop protection products in the next 2-3 years and invests roughly USD 2 billion annually in R&D globally.
