The Uttar Pradesh Police and Forest Department are intensifying efforts under 'Operation Bhediya' to capture two killer wolves in Bahraich district. The search follows multiple attacks on villagers, including a recent one where a five-year-old girl was injured late Monday night.

The girl was sleeping next to her grandmother when the wolf attacked. Quick action by her family and neighbors saved her life, but the wolf managed to escape. Neighboring resident Kalim noted it was the first time a wolf had entered their village.

ADG Zone Gorakhpur, Dr. KS Pratap Kumar, explained that a specialized strategy, involving both the Forest and Police Departments, has been implemented. The region is divided into seven teams, each assigned to different Gram Panchayats. Authorities are confident about capturing the wolves soon.

Earlier on Monday, a separate attack resulted in the death of a three-year-old girl and injuries to two women, sparking public outcry over administrative negligence. DFO Bahraich, Ajit Pratap Singh, is leading a search operation in Thalia village.

Residents, including the mother of the deceased child, expressed frustration over their inability to afford secure housing, which they believe contributes to the ongoing threat. The administration faces increasing pressure to resolve the crisis promptly.
