Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Monday conducted a review of the heavy rainfall and flood situation at the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority office, emphasizing that protecting lives and property is his top priority. Andhra Pradesh has witnessed major devastation with heavy rainfall over the past three days, with records showing 29 cm to 34 cm in some areas, severely disrupting normal life.

Traffic flow on national highways came to a standstill as floodwaters overflowed, leading to the cancellation of numerous train services. The rainfall has caused significant devastation across the state, particularly affecting Krishna and Guntur districts.

In Budameru, floods submerged several areas, including Singhnagar and Nandamuri Nagar, forcing nearly 200,000 people to seek refuge on their rooftops. The Chief Minister directed officials to supply food and water to flood victims as a priority. With his personal intervention, officials swiftly acted, distributing food packets through boats late into the night.

Naidu contacted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, appraising them of the crisis and requesting the flood be treated as a natural calamity. Responding immediately, the central government deployed 10 NDRF teams, 40 power boats, and six helicopters for rescue operations.

The Chief Minister personally inspected flood-affected regions of Vijayawada city and again visited Singh Nagar this morning, overseeing food distribution and relief efforts. He assured residents that he would remain on-site until the flood levels receded and normalcy was restored. On social media platform X, Naidu stated, 'I visited the flood-affected areas in Vijayawada on the second day. I have personally supervised the assistance provided to the affected people. The power boats sent by the Center and the arrangements made by the state government have sped up relief operations. Public safety is our responsibility. All efforts are being made to bring people out of this unexpected calamity as soon as possible. I wish the affected people to be brave.'

He repeatedly appealed for public confidence, assuring that the state government would come to their rescue. Expressing his empathy for the affected, Naidu urged officials to adopt a humanitarian approach, boosting public morale during the crisis. (ANI)
