The Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE) launched the eShram portal on August 26, 2021. In just three years since its inception, the platform has registered over 30 crore unorganised workers, reflecting its swift and widespread acceptance among this segment. According to an official release, this milestone underscores the social impact and the government's dedication to aiding unorganised workers nationwide.

The government plans to develop the eShram portal into a 'one-stop solution' for the country's unorganised workers. During the Budget Speech for the fiscal year 2024-25, it was announced that a comprehensive integration of the eShram portal with other platforms will facilitate this objective.

The initiative seeks to provide unorganised workers with seamless access to various social security schemes run by different ministries and departments. The eShram-One Stop Solution is envisioned as a facilitator, ensuring unorganised workers can easily benefit from multiple government schemes.

The project also aims to raise awareness about these schemes among unorganised workers and identify potential beneficiaries left out. As part of the 'eShram--One Stop Solution' project, the Ministry of Labour and Employment is working to integrate major schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Ayushman Bharat--Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor's Atmanirbhar Nidhi (PM-SVANidhi), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G), and the Ration Card scheme for the betterment of unorganised workers.

A significant focus of the project is the dual integration of the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) with the eShram portal, facilitating seamless registration and service access for users of either portal.

To guarantee that welfare benefits reach workers at the grassroots level, it's vital to onboard all unorganised workers, including health workers like ASHA and Anganwadi workers, those in rural areas, and workers in building and construction projects like MGNREGA personnel. Regular inter-ministerial meetings are conducted by MoLE with senior officers from various ministries and departments, including the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), Department of Fisheries (DoF), and National Health Authority (NHA), among others.

Respective ministries and departments have been urged to integrate their schemes with the eShram portal to ensure the comprehensive development of unorganised workers. The Ministry of Labour and Employment has also reached out to several other ministries to swiftly register unorganised workers under their jurisdiction on the eShram portal. (ANI)
