Aam Admi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Monday accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of forcibly arresting AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan. Singh warned that this move would cost the BJP dearly in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

Taking to social media platform X, Singh stated, "This bullying will cost BJP people dearly. You will lose badly in Delhi. @KhanAmanatullah has been forcibly arrested without any evidence." Earlier on Monday, the ED conducted a raid at Khan's residence before detaining him, citing irregularities in the Waqf properties. Khan, who is the Chairman of the Delhi Waqf Board, proclaimed his innocence as ED officials took him away.

AAP MLA's cousin Minnatullah Khan commented that despite various investigations by agencies like the Anti-Corruption Bureau and Central Bureau of Investigation, no evidence has been found against Khan. He added, "His mother-in-law, a cancer patient, has been recently operated on. Despite investigations by ACB and CBI, nothing has been found... Now ED is investigating."

In a self-made video, Khan stated that he has been harassed by the investigative agency for the past two years. Additionally, Singh expressed joy over the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Vijay Nair on money laundering charges linked to the Delhi Excise Policy case. "Satyamev Jayate! The BJP central government conspired against the Aam Aadmi Party and put many party leaders in jail. But after Manish Sisodia and Vijay Nair got bail, it proved that truth can be troubled but cannot be defeated," he said.

On Monday, a bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy and Justice SVN Bhatti granted Nair bail, noting his incarceration for 23 months without trial. The court highlighted, "The universal proposition of bail being the rule and jail being the exception will be entirely defeated if the petitioner is kept in custody as an under trial for a long duration." The court stressed that the right of liberty under Article 21 should be respected even under strict laws.

Nair was first arrested by CBI in September 2022 and later by ED. His counsel argued that he deserved bail, especially since co-accused Manish Sisodia has been granted bail and the trial has yet to commence.
