Unprecedented Floods Inundate Khammam: Rescue and Relief Efforts Underway

The Munneru River's rising water levels have led to an unprecedented flood in Khammam's Prakash Nagar, Telangana. Congress MP Ramasahayam Raghuram Reddy reported severe damages to houses, while rescue operations are in full swing. 'Food relief has been provided and rehabilitation work is underway,' he stated.
Khammam District Collector Muzammil Khan described the situation as 'unprecedented,' unprecedented in the last 30 years, attributing it to 200mm of rainfall. 'We have been experiencing severe floods unlike in the past three decades. Thanks to officials' efforts, many lives were saved,' he told ANI.
Further measures including setting up health camps and ensuring food grain availability are in process. 'All necessities will be provided by the government,' Khan assured. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inspect the affected areas after a review meeting. A railway track between Tadla Pusapalli and Mahabubabad was washed away, and restoration work is ongoing.
