As officials persisted in 'Operation Bhediya' in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich, a tragic incident occurred involving a wolf attack that killed a three-year-old girl and injured two women. The ordeal has sparked anger among locals who accuse the administration of negligence.

Ajit Pratap Singh, DFO Bahraich, is on-site in Thalia village to oversee the search for the remaining wolves. The mother of the deceased child recounted the harrowing experience, stating, "This incident happened at 3:35 am on Monday. We discovered our daughter was missing when my 6-month-old woke up. Both her hands were bitten by the wolf."

Despite multiple reports from villagers about wolf sightings, locals say their pleas for help have been met with demands for video evidence by the forest department, adding to their frustration.

Bahraich DM Monika Rani highlighted the challenges in capturing the wolf, noting its constant change of habitat. She urged residents to stay indoors and remain alert while assuring them that efforts to trap the remaining wolves are ongoing.

Earlier, Chief Forest Conservator Renu Singh and other officials confirmed the use of drones to locate the wolves, four of which have already been captured. The team continues its patrols and has laid traps in suspected areas.

Adding to protective measures, the forest department has begun bursting firecrackers at night to deter wolf attacks and safeguard the villagers.
