Janata Dal-United senior leader KC Tyagi has emphatically confirmed his continued association with the party amidst growing speculations following his resignation from the national spokesperson position. 'I am still in the party. I am the political advisor of the party. I have political commitment with Nitish Kumar,' Tyagi asserted.

Tyagi further clarified that he harbors no ill feelings towards the party. 'I am neither upset, nor dejected or disappointed. I am cheerful,' the JDU veteran reiterated.

Speaking on his current role, Tyagi stated, 'I have resigned from the post of spokesperson, not from the party; I am still a national advisor.' The senior JDU leader indicated that Nitish Kumar requested him to continue in the role. 'I had written a letter to Nitish ji yesterday, I had received a call from Nitish ji, and he requested that you continue in the post of National Advisor.'

In a recent shuffle, Rajiv Ranjan Prasad was named as the new party spokesperson, replacing Tyagi. In a statement dated September 1, General Secretary and Member of Bihar Legislative Council Aafaq Ahmed Khan confirmed Prasad's appointment and cited personal reasons for Tyagi's resignation. Tyagi, in his letter to Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, wrote, 'I request you to relieve me from the post (of party's national spokesperson) as I have not been able to do justice to the post due to my involvement in other works. If required, I will be available from time to time to speak about your achievements and those of your government in Bihar.'

KC Tyagi, now 73, has had a long political journey. He served as a Rajya Sabha MP from Bihar between 2013 to 2016 and was a Lok Sabha member from 1989 to 1991 representing the Hapur constituency. He also held the positions of Chief General Secretary and National Spokesperson of the Janata Dal (United).
