The President highlighted the persistent challenges facing the judiciary, calling for a coordinated effort from all stakeholders to tackle issues like the backlog of cases and infrastructure development. She acknowledged the invaluable role of the Supreme Court in India's judicial landscape and appreciated the contributions of individuals past and present.
Murmu expressed optimism about the judiciary's progress amidst improvements in training, human resources, and facility provisions at the district level. She encouraged frequent initiatives like special Lok Adalat weeks to address case pendencies and proposed a localized justice system to make legal processes more accessible. Emphasizing the urgency of timely verdicts in serious crimes, she welcomed the Supreme Court's retroactive implementation of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita provisions to expedite justice for first-time offenders.
