A man is feared drowned after a car plunged into a river at Saint Estevam in North Goa district, according to an official on Sunday. Ajit K Kamat of the Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services provided details about the incident and mentioned that a woman was in the vehicle.

"At 2 am today, we received a call about a car that had plunged into a river. Fire station staff immediately rushed to the scene. A woman inside the car mentioned that her male companion might also have been in the vehicle," the official said. "However, the woman was confused about whether he was in the car or not. As we were not eyewitnesses, we cannot confirm if he is missing or if he was not in the car," the official added.

"We enlisted the help of Navy divers, and the car was retrieved using a crane. No bodies were found, nor was anyone inside the car," the official stated. The fire and emergency services and Indian Navy divers continue efforts to trace the potentially missing man.
