QatarEnergy's Ambitious Urea and LNG Production Plans
QatarEnergy plans to double its annual urea production capacity to over 12.4 million tons. CEO Saad Al-Kaabi announced intentions to build four additional production lines. Additionally, the company aims to significantly expand both LNG and solar power generation by 2030, reflecting its strategic focus on meeting future global demands.
QatarEnergy, a state-owned enterprise, has revealed plans to double its annual urea production capacity from 6 million to 12.4 million tons. CEO Saad Al-Kaabi shared these developments during a press conference, highlighting the construction of four new production lines.
Kaabi emphasized the growing global demand for urea due to population growth. 'With 1.5 to 2 billion people joining us in the next 20-30 years, the urea requirement for food production will exponentially increase,' he stated. He also confirmed that the expansion project in the North Field for gas production is on track.
In addition, QatarEnergy aims to boost its liquefied natural gas (LNG) output by 85% and double its solar energy production to 4,000 megawatts by 2030. The North Field, shared with Iran, is pivotal to these plans, alongside the new solar power station in Dukhan.
