Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel kicked off the 7th National Nutrition Month-2024 from Gandhinagar on Saturday, highlighting its pivotal role in transforming maternal and child health systems. Patel noted that the campaign aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of India@2047, aiming for 'Sahi Poshan-Desh Roshan' through improved nutrition and health.

Initiated by Prime Minister Modi in 2018, the National Nutrition Campaign targets malnutrition by enhancing the nutritional status of pregnant women, expectant mothers, adolescent girls, and children up to six years old. The 7th edition of this annual September event was launched by Chief Minister Patel in the presence of Union Minister of Women and Child Welfare, Annapurna Devi.

Themed around Anemia Prevention, Growth Monitoring, and efficient service delivery, among others, this year's Nutrition Month sees extensive national participation. Symbolic food distributions were carried out, benefitting orphans and vulnerable groups, while new initiatives like the State Government's Nari Gaurav Niti-2024 were also introduced. Patel applauded the public's involvement and detailed the state's integrated approach to boosting maternal and child nutrition, especially in tribal areas through schemes like Dudh Sanjeev.
