Union Minister Announces 10 New AYUSH Institutes to Boost Traditional Medicine

Union Minister of State for AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, announced Friday the establishment of ten new AYUSH institutes within the next five years. The statement was made during his visit to the All India Institute of Ayurveda, underscoring efforts to broaden access to traditional medical systems similar to the allopathic system.
During his tour, Minister Jadhav inspected the campus, reviewed facilities, and evaluated patient treatments. He stressed the government's dedication to fulfilling the Prime Minister's vision of bringing Ayurveda into every household. Jadhav remarked that traditional medical systems, including Ayurveda, have faced setbacks during colonial rule and invasions, but have seen resurgence post-2014 under the Modi administration. He noted the growing global acceptance of Yoga and Ayurveda.
In a conversation with journalists, Jadhav mentioned that President Draupadi Murmu has shown interest in visiting the institute, leading to his review of its preparations. Prof. (Dr.) Tanuja Nesri, the institute's director, expressed gratitude for Jadhav's support, stating his significant role in promoting Ayurveda. Jadhav also inaugurated an auditorium dedicated to late Medical Superintendent Sanjay Gupta and released a brochure for the upcoming AROHA-2024 International Conference. Notable attendees included Deputy Director General IC Department of AYUSH Satyajit Paul and other ministry officials.
