Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday urged farmers to switch to organic fertilizers to save the soil from turning infertile and improve human health.
Interacting virtually with farmers and 'Swayampurna Mitras' in Goa, Chouhan hailed the state government's efforts in promoting organic farming, saying it should serve as a model for other states. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant joined the interaction, which was aired across panchayats, municipalities, and zonal agricultural offices in Goa.
Chouhan stressed that the continuous use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is detrimental to soil health and human well-being. He also highlighted the 'Swayampurna Goa' initiative as an exemplary use of government resources, encouraging other states to adopt similar measures. Reflecting on his time as Madhya Pradesh's CM, Chouhan noted that PM Modi has long advocated for such sustainable practices and is committed to achieving a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
