India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Ramashray Yadav stated that Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar are forecasted to experience light to moderate rains today. The Kachchh region has received heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours, adding to the 882 mm of rainfall Gujarat has seen since June 1, according to the IMD.

"Kachchh has received very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Gujarat has recorded 882 mm of rainfall since June 1, which is 50% more than normal. Saurashtra and Kachchh regions have also seen above-average rainfall. Light to moderate rains are expected for Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar today," Yadav said in a statement. On Thursday, a heavy rainfall warning was issued for Jamnagar, Porbandar, Morbi, Swarka, and Kutch districts.

Amid ongoing floods in Gujarat caused by incessant rainfall, the road connecting Padana Patiya to Changa Patiya in Jamnagar has been closed to traffic. A section of a bridge on Sir PN Road has also been washed away, impacting commuter movements significantly. Six columns of the Indian Army are currently engaged in rescue missions in the worst-affected areas as flood conditions persist. In support of these efforts, 350 sanitation workers from Surat have been dispatched to help clean up affected zones in Vadodara.

The in-charge Executive Engineer of Surat Municipal Corporation, Mahesh Rathod, commented, "We have been working here for the last two days. We have 350 sanitation workers here. We clean the dirt from the affected areas. Upon arrival, we conducted a survey to determine the starting points for our work." Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned him on Thursday morning to inquire about the flood situation and ongoing relief measures. (ANI)
