A Delhi CBI court has taken a significant step in the Rs 34,000 crore DHFL scam by issuing a show cause notice to Jalaj Batra regarding the potential cancellation of his bail. The court's action is prompted by allegations of false submissions made by Batra to mislead the court.
Special CBI Judge Ashwani Kumar Sarpal expressed his displeasure over Batra's alleged involvement of a third party and submission of incorrect information to secure bail and exemption from personal appearance in the case. The court noted that Batra was summoned on May 16, 2024, and is accused of share trading activities to manipulate DHFL shares.
The court's attention was drawn to the fact that Batra had a Look-Out Circular (LOC) issued against him and was named in multiple FIRs related to cheating and forgery. Despite opposition from Batra's counsel, the court upheld that any third party could assist in reaching the truth. The investigation report confirmed the misleading information, prompting the court to issue the show cause notice.
