Mahaveer Singhvi, Joint Secretary for New Emerging and Strategic Technologies Division in the Ministry of External Affairs, highlighted the importance of fintech companies focusing on solutions that tackle the unique challenges in developing countries. Speaking at the 2024 Global Fintech Fest, Singhvi emphasized the necessity for global cooperation among fintech firms to help expand India's fintech sector on an international scale.
According to Singhvi, Indian fintech companies have the potential to grow their global footprint by developing products tailored for markets in developing nations and collaborating with counterparts in Africa, Southeast Asia, Europe, and America. He believes such partnerships are beneficial not just for business but also for India's diplomatic initiatives.
Singhvi also stressed the need for fintech firms to maintain high standards, including ensuring data privacy and preventing financial crimes like money laundering, while promoting financial inclusion.
