Sunsure Energy Powers Sandoz in Green Electricity Shift

Sunsure Energy has started supplying renewable electricity to Sandoz's Navi Mumbai facility, part of a solar PPA signed last year. This move will save 26,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, reducing Sandoz's total emissions by 11%. Sunsure's timely delivery underscores Maharashtra's leadership in renewable energy adoption.

Sunsure Energy, one of India's foremost renewable power producers, has begun supplying renewable electricity to the Navi Mumbai production facility of Sandoz, the global leader in generic and biosimilar medicines. The power supply from Sunsure's Solapur plant is part of a solar Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed between the two companies last year.

This landmark project will enable Sandoz to save 26,000 tonnes of CO2 annually, marking a significant advancement in its decarbonization efforts. By switching to green energy at its Navi Mumbai plant, Sandoz will slash its total direct emissions by 11%. Additionally, Sandoz has submitted a Commitment Letter to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) to set science-based carbon reduction goals aligned with the Paris Agreement. Sunsure will annually supply Sandoz with 32 GWh of renewable electricity, enough to power 7,000 Indian homes.

During the inaugural event, Sudhir Bhandare, Executive Director of Sandoz India, emphasized the importance of resource efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction, aligning the project with Sandoz's sustainability goals. Shashank Sharma, Founder & CEO of Sunsure Energy, expressed delight at the project's early completion, highlighting Sunsure's impactful role in Maharashtra's renewable energy landscape.
