Pema Khandu Praises Rs 4,136 Crore Equity Support for NE Hydropower Projects

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday lauded the Union Cabinet for sanctioning equity support worth Rs 4,136 crore to northeastern states to develop hydropower projects with a total capacity of 15,000 MW over the next eight years.
The decision was made by the Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which ratified a proposal by the Ministry of Power. This proposal provides central financial assistance (CFA) to northeastern state governments for equity participation in hydroelectric projects through joint ventures between state entities and Central Public Sector Undertakings.
'I am delighted to hear that the Union Cabinet has approved an initiative to enhance hydroelectric power development in the North Eastern Region (NER). With a CFA of Rs 4,136 crore allocated from FY 2024-25 to FY 2031-32, this scheme will support the development of hydro projects with an overall capacity of around 15,000 MW. We are deeply grateful to Hon PM Shri @narendramodi ji for his persistent efforts to promote growth in the region,' Khandu wrote on X.
