Amid heavy rains causing panic across Gujarat, State Minister Praful Pansheriya confirmed Wednesday that the flood situation in Morbi is under control. Initially, 16 gates of the Machhu dam were opened; however, with rains subsiding, only four gates remain operational, releasing 1.20 lakh cusecs of water. Blocked roads are gradually reopening for small four-wheeler vehicles.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, assuring comprehensive support from the Central government. Continued heavy showers have severely affected Gujarat, prompting evacuation of over 20,000 people and rescue of more than 1,500 across various districts as the administration launched extensive relief operations.

CM Bhupendra Patel took to social media platform 'X' to disclose his conversation with Prime Minister Modi regarding the state's heavy rain situation. Patel mentioned the Prime Minister's guidance for citizen and livestock protection, along with assurances of all necessary support from the Central Government.

Patel further noted that Prime Minister Modi is closely monitoring the situation, expressing his deep concern and affection for Gujarat. He emphasized Modi's unwavering support for the state during natural calamities and other critical times, offering invaluable guidance and warmth to the people of Gujarat.

The unrelenting rainfall worsened flood conditions in Vadodara. Six Army contingents have been deployed to assist the 14 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and 22 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams already engaged in state-wide rescue and relief efforts.

On Tuesday, CM Patel held a video conference from the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC) in Gandhinagar to review ongoing relief and rescue measures in response to the statewide heavy rainfall.
