President Droupadi Murmu condemned recent heinous incidents of rape and murder, particularly the case involving a doctor in Kolkata, calling it a shocking revelation of ongoing atrocities against women. In an open letter titled 'Women's Safety: Enough is Enough,' she expressed deep outrage and called for self-introspection to identify the roots of this societal malaise.

The President emphasized the need for the nation to confront its history of crimes against women, urging both societal and individual introspection to combat the objectification and devaluation of women. She stated that the continual occurrence of such crimes should provoke honest assessments and actions to prevent future tragedies.

President Murmu also discussed the importance of empowering women through education, self-defense training, and societal support, while stressing that real change requires a collective societal effort. She urged the nation to honor the memory of victims to ensure vigilance against gender-based crimes, stating that the country owes it to its daughters to remove barriers to their freedom from fear.
