The collapse of a 35-foot statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Sindhudurg has sparked allegations of corruption against the government. Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole accused both state and central authorities of corruption, calling the incident a major insult to the iconic figure of Maharashtra.

Nana Patole criticized the government for its perceived corruption, linking it directly to the collapse. He condemned the administration for disrespecting Shivaji Maharaj's ideology, stating, "The government should leave the chair and run away." An FIR has been filed against the contractor and structural consultant involved in the statue's construction.

Sindhudurg Police have confirmed the registration of an FIR against contractor Jaydeep Apte and structural consultant Chetan Patil under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde termed the incident as "unfortunate," attributing the collapse to strong winds. He assured that an investigation would be conducted and the statue reinstalled.
