Bangalore South Member of Parliament Tejasvi Surya has called for public suggestions to improve metro travel in Bengaluru, aiming for smoother and more accessible transportation. 'I'm committed to making metro travel in Bengaluru smoother and more accessible for everyone. To do this, I need your help!' Surya posted on social media platform X.

The BJP MP emphasized that he would forward the feedback to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) and Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). 'We want to hear from you about where 'Additional Feeder Buses' are needed or how current services can be improved. Leave your thoughts as replies to this post, or email me at contact@tejasvisurya.in. I'll be taking your feedback to BMTC and BMRCL to push for the improvements you need,' Surya added in his post.

Last Wednesday, Surya highlighted the severe traffic issues in Bengaluru, noting, 'We are spending more time in mind-numbing traffic than with our family and loved ones.' He urged Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, also Bengaluru's Incharge Minister, to convene an urgent meeting with elected officials and traffic management experts to tackle the problem.

Addressing the traffic situation, the MP stated, 'Even Sundays, which used to be relatively easier, are as nightmarish as weekdays. Every day, we are adding thousands of new private vehicles to the roads, exacerbating the problem. Even running errands at neighborhood stores takes an inordinate amount of time. City roads and residential lanes are beyond their carrying capacity, with no scope for expansion.'

Surya further criticized the inadequacies in reducing private vehicles on the road while increasing public transport options. 'BMTC buses are overcrowded. The metro is suffocating during peak hours. Uber and Ola taxis are expensive, unreliable, and often delayed. Autorickshaws frequently cancel rides. Footpaths are not pedestrian-friendly and are often encroached upon. Roads are in poor condition, and BBMP officials ignore commercial developments in residential areas, worsening traffic density. The quality of life is deteriorating daily,' he remarked.
